Cargo Granite don’t use blanks in our production process. Blanks are generally produced from small and rejected blocks in India and china. They are processed on older machines using old technology, the result is that the thickness of the pieces can vary +/- 8mm (industry norm +/- 3mm). Because of the low yield of these blocks there is a greater chance that your granite worktops will be sourced from different blocks resulting in dramatic shade variation between the individual runs of your granite worktops.
Anyone now can buy a container of blanks and set up as a granite company offering cheap granite worktops. When you see promotions on the internet like ‘does your kitchen fit this shape?’ or ‘3 runs for £1000’ you should be aware that you may have a man with an angle grinder turn up and use your kitchen as a workshop.
Cargo Granite has invested over £1,000,000 in state of the art technology. If a quality granite worktop could be produced using a few hand tools and a van we would do it. The simple fact is it cant be done.
All our granite worktops are produced bespoke, from full size slabs at our factory in Bedfordshire using fully trained and experienced stone masons. If there is a problem like a breakage on site you won’t have to wait for it to be reproduced in Eastern Europe or wait for another batch to come from China.

Cargo Granite uses wet polishing technology which results in a far superior finish than polishing dry. Wet technology has been available for the last 10 years so any company still using the dry system is at best ….’behind the times.’
